Heart Towel Topper & Dishcloth Designed by:Jocelyn Sass SIZE: Towel Topper is 6 1/2"' x 6 1/2" {16.5 cm x 16.5 cm} not including towel. Dishcloth is 9" x 9" {22.9 cm x 22.9 cm}. MATERIALS FOR BOTH: 100% cotton 4-ply yarn - 2 112 oz. {71 g} white and 1 oz. {28 g} blue; 1" {2.5 cm} plastic ring; kitchen towel; white sewing thread; sewing needle; F {3.75 mm} crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge. GAUGE: 4 sc = 1" {2.5 cm}; 4 sc rows = 1" {2.5 cm}. SKILL LEVEL: * Easy TOWEL TOPPER Heart Front Row 1: With white, ch 9, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc: in each ch across, turn (8 sc). Rows 2-4: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in each st across with 2 sc in last st, turn, ending with 14 sts in last row. Row 5: Ch 1, sc: in each st across with 2 sc in last st, turn (15). Row 6: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in each st across, turn (16). Rows 7-8: Repeat rows 5 and 6 (17,18). Row 9: Ch 1, sc first 2 sts tog, sc in each st across with 2 sc in last st, turn. Row 10: Ch 1, 2 sc: in first st, sc in each st across to last 2 sts, sc last 2 sts tog, turn. Row 11: Repeat row 9. Rows 12-13: Ch 1, sc: in each st across, turn. Rows 14-16: Repeat rows 9 and 10 alternately, ending with row 9. Row 17: Ch 1, sc in each st across to last 2 sts, dc last 2 sts tog, turn (17). Row 18: Ch 1, sc first 2 sts tog, sc in each st across, turn (16). Rows 19-20: Repeat rows 17 and 18 (15, 14). Rows 21-23: Ch 1, sc first 2 sts tog, sc in each st across to last 2 sts, sc last Z sts tog, turn, ending with 8 sts in last row. Rnd 24: Working around outer edge, ch 1, sc in each st across; working in ends of rows, evenly space 29 sc across to row 1; working in starting ch on opposite side of row 1, sc in each ch across; working in ends of rows, evenly space 30 sc across to row 23, join with sl st in first sc, fasten off (75 sc:). Rnd 25: For scallop trim, working this rnd in front lps only, join blue with sc: in first st, (2 hdc, sc:) in same st, skip next st, sl st in next st, *(sc, 2 hdc, sc) in next st, skip next st, sl st in next st; repeat from * around, join, fasten off. Heart Back Rows 1-23: Repeat same rows of Front. Rnd 24: Repeat same rnd of Front, do not fasten off. Holding Front and Back wrong sides together, working through both thicknesses, in remaining lps of rnd 24 on Front and in back lps of Back, ch 1, sl st in each st around, join with sl st in first sl st, fasten off. Finishing Cut towel in half crosswise. With sewing needle and thread, gather across cut edge to measure 3" {7.6 cm}. Sew gathered edge of towel to back of Heart 1" {2.5 cm} from bottom. For hanger, sew plastic ring to back of Heart near center top. DISHCLOTH Row 1: With white, ch 10, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, turn (9 sc). Rows 2-6: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in each st across with 2 sc in last st, turn, ending with 19 sts in last row. Row 7: Ch 1, sc in each st across with 2 sc in last st, turn (20). Row 8: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in each st across, turn (21). Rows 9-12: Repeat rows 7 and 8 alternately, ending with 25 sts in last row. Row 13: Ch 1, sc first 2 sts tog, sc in each st across with 2 sc in last st, turn. Row 14: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in each st across to last 2 sts, sc last 2 sts tog, turn. Rows 15-17: Repeat rows 13 and 14 alternately, ending with row 13. Rows 18-19: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. Rows 20-24: Repeat rows 13 and 14 alternately, ending with row 13. Row 25: Ch 1, sc in each st across to last 2 sts, sc last 2 sts tog, turn (24). Row 26: Ch 1, sc first 2 sts tog, sc in each st across, turn (23). Rows 27-30: Repeat rows 25 and 26 alternately, ending with 19 sts in last row. Rows 31-35: Ch 1, sc first 2 sts tog, sc: in each st across to last 2 sts, sc last 2 sts tog, turn, ending with 9 sts in last row. Rnd 36: Working around outer edge, ch 1, sc in each st across; working in ends of rows, evenly space 45 sc across to row 1; working in starting ch on opposite side of row 1, sc: in each ch across; working in ends of rows, evenly space 45 sc across to row 1, join with sl st in first sc, fasten off (108 sc). Rnd 37: For scallop trim, working this rnd in front lps only, join blue with sc in any st, (2 hdc, sc) in same st, skip next st, sl st in next st, *(sc, 2 hdc, sc) in next st, skip next st, sl st in next st; repeat from * around, join with sl st in first sc, fasten off.
Country Heart Rug Designed by:Debra Yorston SIZE: 21 1/2" x 31 1/2" {54.6 cm x 80 cm}. MATERIALS: Worsted-weight yarn - 10 oz. {284 g} each white, lt. blue and med. blue; craft glue or hot glue gun; tapestry needle; I 15.5 mm } and P { 10 mm} crochet hooks or sizes needed to obtain gauges. GAUGES: With 1 strand and I hook, 3 sts = 1 " 12.5 cm }; 3 sc rows = 1" {2.5 cm}. With 3 strands held tog and P hook, 3 pattern sts = 3 1/2" {8.9 cm}; 4 pattern rows = 3" {7.6 cm}. SKILL LEVEL: *Easy RUG Row 1: With P hook and one strand each color yarn held together, ch 40, sc in 2nd ch from hook, dc in same ch, *skip next ch, (sc, dc) in next ch; repeat from * across, turn (20 pattern sts). Rows 2-50: Ch 1, skip first dc, (sc, dc) in next sc, *skip next dc, (sc, dc) in next sc; repeat from * across, turn. At end of last row, fasten off. HEART (make 1 each white, lt. blue and med. Row 1: With I hook and one strand yarn, ch 2, 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook, turn (3 sc). Row 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in next st, 2 sc in last st, turn (5). Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. Row 4: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in each st across to last st, 2 sc in last st, turn (7). Rows 5-9: Repeat rows 3 and 4 alternately, ending with row 3 and 11 sc. Row 10: For first side, ch 1, sc in first 5 sts leaving remaining sts unworked, turn (5). Row 11: Ch 1, sc first 2 sts tog, sc in next st, sc last 2 sts tog, turn (3). Row 12: Ch 1, sc in each st across,turn. Row 13: Ch 1, sc next 3 sts tog, turn, fasten off. Row 10: For second side, skip next st on row 9, join with sc in next st, sc in last 4 sts, turn (5 sc). Rows 11-13: Repeat same rows of first half. At end of last row, do not fasten off. Rnd 14: Working around entire outer edge, ch 1, sc in each st and in end of each row around with 3 sc in last st of each side and in point, join with sl st in first sc, fasten off. FINISHING 1: Glue Hearts to corner of Rug as shown in photo. 2: With med. blue, using Straight Stitch , embroider around outside edge of each Heart as shown.
